Hey guys!

After my A-levels one of my biggest dreams came true. My mum, my sister and I decided to take some time off and explore another continent…North America. My sister has been in Canada before but for my mum and me it was the first time that we boarded such a long flight but with some exciting destinations (NYC, L.A. and Vancouver).

We planned this trip not too early in advance but with our travel agent of trust so after two hours in the travel agency we had booked it. “America here we come” crossed our minds instantly. It was so surreal that we were actually going to America, the country everyone dreams of, the country everyone sings about such as Frank Sinatra or Alicia Keys feat. Jay-Z. It’s the city that never sleeps and we were about to see what we have only seen in movies. Ever since I was a little child I wanted to visit NYC. “Home Alone 2” was and is still one of my favourite movies so blame it all on Kevin 😉 We didn’t go around Christmas time though, we went there in June which was a beautiful time of the year as well.

So after an 8-hour-flight we landed at JFK airport and jumped into the next yellow cab which should take us to our hotel. The “Hotel Pennsylvania” (http://www.hotelpenn.com/de/) was our home for three nights. The hotel room was simple but quite big but as you might know or might not know: most of the hotels in America don’t serve breakfast or you have to pay for it separately. Just keep that in mind if you wanna visit the States or Canada. The best thing about the hotel was that it wasn’t that expensive and it was located right opposite of Madison Square Garden and you could walk to Times Square. How awesome is that in such a big city!? We checked in and got ready to explore the city. Since it was the early evening when we arrived we just took a stroll around our neighbourhood. As I said when we walked out of the hotel we could see MSG and just around the corner there was the famous Empire State Building.

The next morning we jumped on one of the tourist busses to see more of Manhattan. Take a look and get a first impression yourself…

Stay tuned for more posts about our trip!

xx
