I don’t know if you’ve heard from Grasse before but this town is considered the world’s capital of perfume. Fragrances from companies such as L’Oréal or Chanel are manufactured in Grasse. But the best thing is that there are also independent perfumeries run by families with a couple of decades of history. Fragonard is one of them and very popular among tourists and locals. The two other famous ones are called Molinard and Galimard. Those perfumeries have their headquarters in Grasse but they have shops all across France. When I’m in another country or city I’m always looking for something special, something you can’t buy everywhere…something exclusive! Fragrances from such independent perfumeries are just perfect and would also be a great gift for a friend. Some of their perfumes only contain a pure scent of a particular flower which means that they have raw rose, lily or jasmine fragrances. They smell incredible and it’s something you can’t get everywhere. When you visit Fragonard in Grasse you can also take part in a guided tour. They take you to the rooms where the different scents are mixed and filled in flacons and finally put in their final boxes so they are ready to be sold in the shops. They also show you another section where their unique soaps are produced. The best thing is that it’s for free and they offer tours in many different languagues.
