The Waterfront is one of the must-see-places in Liverpool. It is located along the River Mersey. The Museum of Liverpool, a Beatles Café, The Three Graces (Liverpool’s most iconic buildings that include the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building), Albert Dock etc. are located there and the famous ferries across the Mersey depart at the Waterfront.

The most impressive thing about Liverpool is the fact that it is full of history. The city used to play an important role not only as the city where The Bealtes come from but also when it comes to the Industrial Revolution and the trade via waterway or rail. It has been a successful and rich city and has always been compared to New York City. The Three Graces still remind people of that time whereas nowadays new and modern buildings have been added to Liverpool’s famous skyline, the Waterfront. This part of Liverpool is full of contrasts and that’s what makes it so special. After the rich and glorious times, so after the trade in Liverpool declined and people got umemployed the city lost significance and glory. But a couple of years later they began rebuilding and prettifying the dilapidated docks and houses so now Liverpool looks hip and modern again but still has this old and historical charme.

I love Liverpool and it was so great to be back there after almost seven years because now in my mid-twenties I see it with different eyes and it was great to show my mom the city of The Beatles because she’s a huge fan. Now let’s take a look at the beautiful Waterfront.

You can see the Museum of Liverpool on the left, the Three Graces in the middle (where I’m pointing at) and some modern buildings on the right side.

The Port of Liverpool Building. So beautiful, isn’t it!?

The Royal Liver Buidling

And I met The Beatles along the way 😉

The Museum of Liverpool. Do you see the panoramic window? Go there to get an amazing view over the Waterfront. Museums in the UK are for free so make sure to visit them if you have time.

I can’t get enough of these buildings! They are so beautiful and they somehow remind me of New York and that’s probably also the reason why many movies are filmed in Liverpool that actually play in the old NYC. Seems like more people are thinking about it when they see the buildings at the Waterfront 😉

And the spirit of The Beatles era can be felt everywhere in Liverpool. I’ll show you more of the Liverpool of The Beatles in another blog post because we have also visited The Beatles Story Museum and went on The Magical Mystery Tour so stay tuned for that 🙂

Ich war im April in Liverpool und es war ein echt schönes sonniges Wochenende. Die Docks waren wirklich sehenswert – eine tolle Stadt.
