Tori Kelly

I know I told you that this blog will mostly be about travelling (especially L.A. and London) but also about things I like and that I just wanna tell you guys about.
This post is about the beautiful and talented TORI KELLY.
Back in 2012 I stumbled across Tori on YouTube. Within the first 5 seconds of watching her video I was already captivated by her talent and I still am today. I think she is one of the most talented artists of this generation.

For those of you who haven’t heard about Tori before: Tori Kelly is a 22-year-old (yay my age 😉 ) singer and songwriter from Southern California. She grew up in a family of musicians and was influenced by many famous artists at a young age.
Her first EP called “Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly” (2012) has been written and produced all on her own in her bedroom. After she has released her original songs she caught Scooter Braun’s attention who is now her manager. Tori’s second EP “Foreword” came out in October 2013 and her popularity has grown steadily since then. Over the past couple of years Tori has also had some performances on TV including “The Ellen Show” and “Good Morning America”.

I’ve been listening to Tori’s music for years now and I can truly say that her songs are very personal and you can relate to every single one of them. She sings about her experiences in life and what’s on her mind. That’s why adore her.
She never tries to hide behind a mask, she just sings her heart out and that’s what makes her so amazing, in my opinion. You feel like you’ve known her for years, through her music and her lyrics. A real plus as well is that she is so down to earth and that’s what a great artist should be. She’s so happy with her life right now and that’s what makes me happy too. Seeing her fulfilling her dreams and getting such amazing opportunities like opening up for Ed Sheeran in MSG in New York or for Sam Smith on his tour through the UK is incredible. Tori even got to write a song with Ed called “I Was Made For Loving You” which is now on her debut album. She never takes anything for granted and even in interviews it’s like she’s talking to a friend, not a professional interviewer. I hope she’ll still be the same person but with a lot more success in the future.

June 23 was THE day for Tori. Her debut album Unbreakable Smile came out in the US and went straight to No. 1 on iTunes. That’s so amazing! She absolutely deserves it because her album is more than incredible.

Her first single “Nobody Love” has already been a catchy song and I caught myself singing it all day when it has been released. You can watch the music video here.

Unfortunately “Unbreakable Smile” is not available here in Germany or Europe in general. I think that people in the UK can now buy it on iTunes but not people in other countries. Since the day it came out I’ve been listening to her album on YouTube but I can’t wait to get a copy of it. This is actually happening guys because I tweeted and asked if someone in America could buy it and send it over to me and a girl actually did! She said that it’s a gift for me and that it’s on its way to Germany. I can’t believe that she got in touch with me and that I will soon get my hands on Tori’s album. That’s amazing! Therefore I would like to take this moment to thank Brooklyn for sending me Tori’s CD. It means a lot to me so thank you for being so great!!! It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m already excited 🙂
People in the US can buy “Unbreakable Smile” on iTunes or it’s also available in stores. I guess people from Europe still have to wait for a couple of weeks. Apparently there’s a reason why Scooter Braun first wanted Tori to do promotion in America before expanding her success across the ocean to Europe and everywhere else in the world. We just have to be patient because I’m sure that her time will come and that one day she will be touring through Europe. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it’ll happen soon!

Tori has now over 1 million subscribers on YouTube and over 700.000 followers on Twitter. I tweeted her from time to time or tweeted about her new video and one day a couple of months ago I send out a tweet with just the caption “Talent” and the link to her song “Funny” (you can watch the video right here). A few minutes later I looked at my iPhone which had a new Twitter notification on the display saying “Tori Kelly is now following you”. I was happy that she liked my tweet although it was so simple but I guess celebrities like it when they don’t get spammed by insistent fans or “fangirls” as they are called nowadays.
