Proud Londoner? Definitely me! Well to be honest I am not a real born and raised Londoner but I fell in love with this city and I lived there for a couple of months so I can call myself a ‘Proud Ldnr’ as well, right!? YES!  When I found out about this clothing brand on Instagram I knew that my readers and followers would love it because I have dedicated most of my blog (and part of my blog name) to the city that I love. So I was happy when the team of Proud Ldnr said that they are happy to collaborate. The brand offers t-shirts as well as snapbacks and beanies in different colors with ‘Ldnr” on it. I love the design! I think it is such a cool idea and a must-have for every Londoner and London fan.

As the brand was only established 2015 I thought it would be a great idea to do a little interview with founder Del of Proud Ldnr, so here we go:

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and how you came up with the idea of founding your own company?

The idea behind the LDNR brand was more about creating something iconic that Londoners could be proud of, than any personal desire to run my own company. I’ve always felt quite strongly about seeing people wearing NY hats and LA hats etc. and not having anything that we could call our own, so I decided to create something to plug this gap in the head-wear market.

LDNR actually started as a blog back in 2013 called The Ldnr: https://theldnr.wordpress.com/ I used to go around to bars and restaurants in London and do write ups on my experiences. It started gaining a bit of traction and I started receiving invites to go out and review places which was very cool but in the end it became a bit of a chore to do the write-ups so I eventually stopped.Whilst I was doing the blog I had the idea of creating merchandise which I could sell when the blog had a larger following, but of course when I stopped writing the following stopped growing. After some time I wanted the revive the blog and thought of ways I could do it but I found I just didn’t have the time to really get it going; one night in 2015 whilst thinking about what I could do to get the blog started again I revisited the idea of selling merchandise and it occurred to me that I didn’t necessarily need the blog to sell the merchandise, I could use the idea behind the blog to create a London brand. That was the night that LDNR was born.

How did you come up with the brand name?

As the blog was already called: The Ldnr (which was basically the name I gave myself whilst blogging) and I already had the LDNR logo design, I just used what I already had and thought the LDNR would look pretty cool on it’s own.

Will more clothes be added to the collection soon?

We’ll definitely be adding more garments to the collection, we feel that street/sportswear is the best way for us to go at the moment because that style is very much representative of London so we’ll be putting out some new hoodies t-shirts, tracksuits etc. very soon. We’ve also been experimenting with different meanings we can attribute the LDNR initials and these are things we are thinking of putting on our new garments. My favourites are:

Love Deeply No Regrets and Live Dreams Not Realities. Look out for our new stuff in the near future. We’ve also got a new range of A-Frame style baseball caps coming out very shortly so watch this space.

Who is your target group?

In sales and marketing terms we do have a target group but this is purely for strategy purposes, our aim is really not to alienate anyone, we want to reach people who are from London but also and perhaps more so in fact, people who just like what London is about about and want to be a part of that culture. We believe London is innovative, original, cosmopolitan and most importantly accepting, of different types of people, whether it be through colour, religion, sexuality, our brand is representative of all these people because London is.

What do wish for the future of Proud Ldnr?

I would love for LDNR to be as iconic as the NY and LA logos we all recognise, I want the brand to become entrenched in London culture and for people to feel the same way about the brand as we do and that is for people to see that it’s more than just a brand, it’s a statement.

Will your clothes be available in stores as well?

Our clothes will definitely be available in stores in the future and we are currently exploring opportunities to bring PL to a store near you!

Thanks for the little interview, Del! Like I said I really like your brand and I’m sure that other hipsters and fashionistas will do too.
