So I’m back from my much needed holiday. To my mind the Côte d’Azur is one of the most amazing places in the world. There is so much to see and explore. We always rent a house in Fréjus which is the perfect place in the middle of the French Riviera from where you can head west to Saint Tropez or east to cities such as Cannes, Nice or Monaco. When we visited the principality of Monaco we went to see the Rose Garden. Monaco is such a beautiful little country. It always feels like you’re in a movie because everything is so clean and tidy just like a film set. I’ve seen a lot of movies that play in Monaco and I watch the Formula 1 race every year, so it’s always good to be there where everything happened. I’ve been to Monaco a lot of times so I’ve seen most of the country (as it’s quite tiny you can almost walk everywhere). This year we wanted to visit the Rose Garden again after a couple of years because it has been redecorated by Princess Charlène. Prince Rainier III. has opened the Rose Garden on 18 June 1984 in memory of his wife Princess Grace. The garden is located in the district of Fontvieille which is near the old harbour. There’s a fountain and in total 8,000 rose bushes in 300 different varieties. I didn’t even know there there are so many varieties. That’s unbelievable, right!? Some varieties bear names like Princess Grace, Red Dragon or Grimaldi (the family name of Monaco’s royal family). I’ve never seen so many unique flowers in one place! If you follow me on Instagram you must have seen that a gardener gave me a royal rose that was actually intended to be thrown away but it still looked great. I wouldn’t have cut it out already. I have to explain it because of course nobody is allowed to cut anything out there and some people might have thought that I did it (no I’m not a thief, it was given to me as a present) …just to avoid any misunderstandings 😉 I’ve put it in my bun for the day and then pressed the rose in my book as a memento because how many people can say that they have a royal flower!? I can say that now 🙂 Okay I think I’ve told you enough now so it’s time to take a look at some photos!

Welcome to the Princess Grace Rose Garden…

xx
