P1040672The next morning after our first bus tour through Manhattan we got off at Battery Park to catch the next ferry to Staten Island. The Staten Island Ferry is for free. It takes you to Staten Island and on the way there you get to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island (the place where all the immigrants arrived in the hope that they can move to the USA and live their American Dream) and the Brooklyn Bridge. And not to forget the beautiful and stunning view of the Manhattan skyline. If you want to visit Miss Liberty on Liberty Island or the Immigration Museum on Ellis Island you have to take a ferry of “Statue Cruises” (you can find the schedule and more information on their website.

After a short trip to Staten Island we arrived back in Battery Park where we found a sculpture that survived the attacks of 9/11. The sculpture stood right on the square between the two towers of the World Trade Center as you can see here:

Nowadays you can see the sculpture in Battery Park and that’s where we went. There is also a commemorative plaque and eternal flame in memory of all the people who lost their lives on that day.

I hope you enjoyed these photos 🙂
