Since I was in Los Angeles in 2011 I’m an even bigger fan of California. As I told you in my other blog posts it instantly felt like home and I can’t stop thinking and reading about this beautiful and magical place. I just wanted to show you my collection of travel guides and DVDs that I’ve bought over the last couple of years (They’re all in German though. Sorry to my international readers but travel guides like the ones from Lonely Planet are also very good. Let me know which ones you have at home!).

After my apprenticeship I acutally wanted to go and live abroad for a couple of months. I wanted to live and work in Los Angeles but it didn’t work out (for many different reasons) but when I started thinking about it I bought the following book. It means Daily life in America – live and work in the USA in English. It contains topics such as apartment hunting, where to buy a car, insurances, how to get internet and a telephone connection for your apartment and loads more. It’s a must read for people who want to emigrate to the USA. Everything can be found in there (for a comparable English book click here).

For the latest news I usally read websites like Visit California or Discover Los Angeles. If your wanderlust is too big go and check out their websites. All the beautiful photos and the information about upcoming or past events makes you feel better – trust me!

As I have a lot of travel guides already I’m always looking for something new to read about California. A couple of weeks ago I ordered some brochures from Visit California and I love them! I got some about Palm Springs (where the famous Coachella Festival takes place every year), Sacramento and some more. The best one was the one about Californian road trips. If you want to order those brochures click here or you can download a digital visitor guide of Los Angeles right here. If you are interested in travel brochures about other cities in California go and visit the website of L.A. tourist. You can get some of them via mail when you live in the USA or Canada. If you are from Germany like me or from other countries you can request a digital guide.

The last brochures that I received a couple of days ago are from Santa Monica and Beverly Hills which I ordered on the link mentioned in the previous paragraph. Take a look what they’ve sent me:

I hope you like this post. Tell me about the travel guides you own or which websites you visit for more travel information in the comments or tweet me.

xx
Alissa
