As I told you in the blog post London Calling I spent the Easter weekend in London. We arrived at St. Pancras International at about 1pm and hopped on a bus to our hotel. I’ve stayed in several hotels in London over the past couple of years but since 2012 I always book the Holiday Inn Express London City because it’s not that expensive and fairly central. In my opinion hotel chains are the best choice because the standard is the same in every city/country and you know what you can expect. It’s only a 5-minutes-walk to Old Street tube station. You can catch a Northern line train or one of the many busses from there. For the London tube map click here and you can find a map of all busses that depart around Old Street tube station here.
After having dropped all our luggage at the hotel we made our way to the city centre…
First to Piccadilly Circus
Then to Leicester Square with the famous Odeon cinema. That’s where most of the film premieres take place.
After that we headed to Covent Garden.
Finally I got to meet my friend Ben again. Missed him a lot! In my opinion Big Ben is one of the most beautiful sights of London.
Oh and my sister has caught me taking a photo of Ben 😉
We made our way across the Westminster Bridge to Southwark and caught another glimpse of Mister Ben and the London Eye.
The stunning skyline of London.
And then we stopped for dinner at the famous pub The Anchor
My mum and my sister got the traditional Fish & Chips and I took the chicken version. And if you’re in England you have to try Pimm’s. It’s a mixture of liqueur and lemonade with slices of orange, lemon, lime, strawberry, cucumber and mint in it. So delicious!
After a great first day we walked to the tube station to head back to the hotel to get some rest before another exciting day in London.
Can’t wait to tell you more about my London adventures next Sunday.
Have a great week guys!
xx
