Okay, so….I have been living in London and apart from that I have visited this beautiful city a lot of times but I have to admit that I never actually took a ride on the London Eye. Crazy, isn’t it!? Shame on me! When I visited my friend Jenni in July I had some time for myself before I would meet up with her after she has finished work.
My plane landed at 7 AM in London Stansted so I had plenty of time on my first day back in the city. I went to some touristy places like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square, went shopping, had tea time (with milk of course! 😉 ) and then I still had two more hours to “kill” before I had to go to Tower Hill to meet my friend.
So I was sitting in Café Nero at Trafalgar Square thinking about what to do in those few hours. Everybody knows that I love seeing cities from above! I LOVE Parliament Hill in Hampstead and Primrose Hill and I have been there hundreds of times because I cannot get enough of seeing a city’s skyline. After I have finished my tea time I went on a stroll to the Thames and saw the London Eye and thought “That’s it!!!”. Most people think it is very expensive and most people book the tickets in advance so they can skip the long queue but I thought this is the time to do it. Let’s get a ticket and go on a ride and that’s exactly what I did! The ride takes approximately 30 minutes and I paid 25 GBP. But the view was absolutely amazing! Picture-perfect! Now take a look yourself and get on a ride on the London Eye with me 🙂
(I apologize in advance for all the photos of Ben but he is just so much more beautiful when you’re up in the sky)
Big Ben is in fact my favourite sight in London!
The Shard
It was a bit like in the movie Peter Pan when he was flying over the Thames to Neverland with Wendy and her siblings.
Buckingham Palace
The Walkie Talkie tower (On the top floor of that building is the Sky Garden. Read my blog post about my visit there here.)
St. Paul’s Cathedral
Bankside and Southwark
Selfie time 😉
Have a lovely Sunday!
