Today I want to introduce you to another model that you might know or might not know already…..BAPTISTE GIABICONI.
Baptiste is a 25-year-old French model and singer. His modelling career began when Baptiste was discovered by Karl Lagerfeld in 2008. From the moment he met Karl his career took off like a rocket. He started modelling for brands such as Chanel, Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld. He appeared in several issues of Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle etc. He was one of the best male models in the world and he still is.

In 2010 Baptiste decided to concentrate on his second passion…music. His debut album “Oxygen” has been released in 2012 and was followed by his second album “Un Homme Libre” (2014) with French songs only. Both albums are great but in different ways. The first one fits perfectly into the rock/pop/RnB genre whereas the second one consists of French chansons and ballads. I can’t recommend “Oxygen” enough because it’s a perfect record for all the teens out there but in fact people of all ages would like it. But unfortunately the promo in Germany failed so nobody knew about the release of the album. What a shame!

But now let me tell you more about how I got to know about Baptiste. For a couple of years now I spend my summers at the Côte d’Azur. In summer 2010 my family and I were strolling around St. Tropez when we spotted a lot of people in front of the famous Sénéquier pointing on someone and taking photos. There he was…black sunglasses, white hair tied back in a ponytail…it was Karl Lagerfeld. Being a huge fan of fashion and especially Chanel I instantly knew who he was. But then there was this guy sitting next to him who I’ve seen on TV. He was descibed as Karl Lagerfeld’s new muse. They only mentioned him on the news in passing but when I saw him in St. Tropez he didn’t get out of my mind. Since then I followed his career as a model and later as a singer. It’s very interesting when you follow a career of someone from the beginning like he was only this young boy from a little town near Marseille who conquered the fashion world overnight.
I can’t remember if it was already in 2010 or rather in 2011 when I found a Baptiste Giabiconi fanpage on Facebook. That’s where I got to know a girl who knew Baptiste already (at that time not a lot of people knew him here in Germany…well to be honest that hasn’t changed that much). Anyways the girl and I got in touch and a few months later she launched the Facebook page Baptiste Giabiconi Germany and a couple of days later she asked me to become an administrator too.
The second time I saw Baptiste was in Düsseldorf in 2011. He accompanied Karl to the Schwarzkopf Lightbox Opening. As I live near Düsseldorf I decided to go there and see if I could catch a glimpse of him but he actually stopped for an autograph. At that time I was too shy to ask for a photo with him haha 😉 I should have asked though because nobody else was there to see him in particular.
Anyways, a few months later Baptiste came back to Düsseldorf for another opening. This time it was the Philipp Plein store opening and Baptiste was a guest as well. I didn’t really know for sure if he would really come and attend but I went there on the off chance and look who I’ve met there 🙂 (This time I got a photo with him but I don’t want to put it online. But you can see me in the photo below. I’m the blonde girl on the right 😉 )
This was the last time I’ve seen him in person. What a pity because he’s a lovely guy. Hopefully I’ll see him very soon.
His two newest projects are a blog and a fashion collection. Baptiste recently launched his fashion blog giabiconistyle.com where he posts his outfits mostly shot around Paris. Unfortunately the texts are only in French but if you don’t understand French that’s fine because there are a lot of great photos in every post so go and take a look 🙂 .
In connection with his blog he has teamed up with the Parisian fashion brand ELEVENPARIS to design a new collection called “ELEVENPARIS X GIABICONI”. You can buy all the t-shirts and the snapback here.
