Albert Dock Liverpool

The Albert Dock at Liverpool’s iconic waterfront was built between 1841 and 1846. It is a complex of warehouses that was revolutionary back then because ships were able to be loaded and unloaded directly from the warehouse. These cargos included cotton, sugar, tea etc. After serving as a base for ships of the Royal Navy fleet the Albert Dock was closed in 1972 and then opened again in 1988 after a redevelopment of five years.

The Pumphouse is a cool pub. It has the typical British pub charme and the food is good as well. If you’re looking for a place for dinner or wanna drink a pint or Pimm’s you should go to The Pumphouse. I loved it there!

Today the Albert Dock is part of Liverpool’s UNESCO world heritage. It is one of the most visited attractions outside London.

You can find Tate Liverpool (art museum), the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the Beatles Story (museum) as well as some cute little cafés, restaurants, bars and shops in the Albert Dock. According to statistics there are four million visitors visiting the Albert Dock each year.

I had fun walking around the old and historical but modern and hip warehouses and I highly recommend you to visit this part of the city!
